How to make a crystals

Aim: To learn about a saturated solution and how to make
crystals


Definition of solution:
A liquid mixture, when something is dissolved into a liquid (e:g:
sugar in water)


Definition of saturated:
Having or holding as much as can be absorbed of something
(when no more sugar or borax can be dissolved into the water)

In groups of three you will make three different types of crystals
and compare the results.


Borax Crystals

Ratio; 3 Tablespoons Borax per 1/2 cup water
Materials


1)cup.
2)borax
3)popsicle stick
4)five mm string
5)mix it


Process


Step 1:get a cup
Step 2:get a popsicle
Step 3:put 3 spoons of borax
Step 4:put half cup of warm water.
Step 5:mix the borax with the popsicle stick.
Step 6:tai a string to the popsicle stick and dip it in the cup.


Sugar Crystals


Grow your own Sugar Crystals


Ratio: 1 cup sugar to 1/2 cup water
Materials


1)popsicle stick
2)half cup warm water
3)sugar
4)five mm string
5)pipe cleaner


Process


Step 1:grab a cup and a popsicle.
Step 2:put four spoons of sugar.
Step 3:put half cup warm water
Step 4:mix it with your popsicle stick.
Step 5:tia a string to the middle of the popsicle stick.
Step 6:tai a pipe cleaner on to the end of the string.

Salt Crystals

Ratio: 4 Tablespoons salt to 1/2 cup water
Materials


1)popsicle stick
2)cup
3)water
4)salt
5)string


Process


Step 1:get a cup
Step 2:get a popsicle stick
Step 3:put 4 spoons of salt in to the cup
Step 4:put half cup of warm water
Step 5:tai the string to the middle of the popsicle stick
Step 6:dip the string in to the cup
